Kick the cravings: Pina Colada Nice Cream Recipe

Cravings can be the worstttt. Earlier I wanted junk food so badly. I wanted pizza, bread, cheese, macaroons, champagne, chips… and my mind was extremely convincing. These slick little thoughts would creep into my head that sounded something like this:

Come onnnn. Just go get some junk food… it’s just a little bit. Who cares? Mmmm, it’ll taste soooo good. Just gooooo. It’s fine. You eat clean, go eat some of that stuff, it doesn’t matter.”

And, I nearly gave in. And it wasn’t thinking about calories that stopped me (I don’t care about that), it wasn’t the laziness of not wanting to drive to the store, and it wasn’t the fact I am telling myself everything I eat has to be healthy. I don’t care if I treat myself sometimes, life is meant to be enjoyed, but here is the thing…

It wouldn’t be treating myself.

Waking up with a headache, no energy, brain fog and a few blemishes doesn’t sound like a treat to me. There are plenty of times I’ve made a healthier alternative to some of my favorite foods, and I wish I would have had them on hand… but I didn’t, so I improvised and ended up with a delicious treat.

Instead of devouring a ton of greasy food and feeling like crap in the morning, I made pina colada ice cream (I’m even enjoying it now!)

So, don’t give into your cravings. I know they are convincing, but kindly show them the door. You’ll feel better tomorrow if you eat something that’s actually a healthy treat instead of some greasy dough. And the best part about these healthy “desserts” is that they are amazing for you. You get to kick your cravings andddd feel and look great. Win winnnn.

Virgin Mojito

Hiiii<3

Ahhh, “non-alcoholic” alcoholic drinks. I used to be annoyed with these and would wonder why anyone would order it without alcohol. But, now I’m one of them. I’m not saying you need to give up drinking or anything, but since my body is still straightening itself out, I don’t feel like adding something like booze into the mix.  But since I dooo love a refreshing mojito, I decided to throw up a quick, easy, and delicious recipe for you to enjoy on a warm summer day.

Mojito:

12 oz club soda

5 fresh mint leaves

juice of half a lime

dash of stevia (depending on how sweet you want it)

Optional: Lime wedge for garnish

Wet the mint under water and slap it against your wrist (it releases more flavor, learned this trick while I was a bartended and made bomb mojitos). Place mint, lime juice, and stevia into a glass and muddle for about thirty seconds. Muddling by using a spoon or some object to press mint around/break it up.

Add ice, top with club soda, and enjoy ❤

The Best Apple Nachos

Hiii allll! I hope you’re all having the most amazing day ever. I decided to share one of my favorite snacks in the world. It’s super easy to prepare, full of nutrients, raw, vegan, and packed with protein. So, what’s not to love? You’ll only need 6 ingredients and they are all very affordable 🙂 PLUS… you can spice it up with your on twist. That’s one of the best parts of these tasty treats, you can add your own little bit of fun. These nachos are amazinggg for numerous reasons, including:

Apple: Full of fiber, vitamin C, and antioxidants. They fill you up and are delicious!

Cashews: Filled with vitamin K, B6, and E. They also contain selenium, which is amazing for healthy hair. They contain good fats, magnesium, copper and zinc. Make sure you get raw, unsalted cashews.

Pumpkin Seeds: SO GOOD FOR YOUR HAIR. Seriously, if you want beautiful, thick, shiny hair, then eat pumpkin seeds. Make sure they are raw and unsalted.

Unsweetened Coconut Flakes: Good source of iron, fiber, and add a tasty flavor and texture to anything you add it to. Seriously, the amount of things I add coconut flakes to is unreal.

Nut Butter: Nut butter is a great source of protein and good fats. BUT make sure you are getting a good quality nut butter. Read the lables on the back and make sure the only ingredient is some sort of nut. I buy a huge tub of peanut butter from Whole Foods, it’s only like 4.50, AND the only ingredients are dry roasted peanuts. That’s it. On the back of some of the commercial nut butters you will see all sorts of unhealthy oils, chemicals, and a bunch of other crap your body doesn’t need. Don’t fool yourself by thinking you’re eating healthy if you are putting that junk on your apples.

Coconut Nectar: A great sweetener that is low on the glycemic index .

RECIPE:

(*This is a serving size for one, that is why the portions are small! Feel free to just wing it and add as much of something as you want!)

-1 Apple

-2 Tbs Raw, Unsalted Cashews

-1 Tbs Pumpkin Seeds

-1/2 Tbs Unsweetened Coconut Flakes

-1 Tbs Nut Butter

-1 Tbs Coconut Nectar.

–Cut up your apple into bite size chunks and put them on a plate. Drizzle coconut nectar, pumpkin seeds, cashews, shredded coconut over the whole thing. Then, add a dolup of your nut butter in the center. Grab a fork and enjoy 🙂apple bunny

Young Thai Coconut Energy Shake

Hiiii alllll. I’m so excited about this post today because it is about one of my favorite meals ever! It’s better than any malt or shake you’ll ever get from a drive-thru and doesn’t contain any unhealthy fats, sugars, and chemicals. It’s tremendously healthy and by far one of the best things you’ll ever put in your mouth 😉 Plus, it’s only a four ingredients, so how can it get any better than that?

Some of the health benefits include:

Coconut: High in fiber, magnesium, potassium. It’s full of vitamins, acts as an antioxidant, helps the immune system, provides loads of energy and contains healthy fats. It’s amazing for your hair and skin and it’s delicious. Plus, you kind of feel like your on a tropical island while drinking it.

Cocao: Full of antioxidants, increases blood flow, may boost serotonin (the happy drug in your brain. So, put down the crack, you’ve got a new drug. Jk. Please don’t do crack), good for cholesterol. It’s chocolaty  and scrumptious<3

Dates: Promotes a healthy digestive system, rich in B vitamins, good for your brain’s health, anti-inflammatory, strengthens nervous system, improves skin elasticity.

Chia seeds: Lots of nutrients with very few calories, filled with antioxidants, high in Omega-3 fatty acids, energy enhancers and increases metabolism. They also thicken up shakes and keep you full longer.coconut shake

RECIPE:

-1 Young Thai Coconut (coconut meat/water)

-1 Tbs Cocao

-1 Date

-1 Tbs chia seeds

–Place everything into a blender and enjoy 🙂

*There are two options with the coconut. You can either buy one at the store and open it with a butchers knife or order pre-made coconut meat from Exotic Superfoods. If you just order the meat, you’ll either have to buy coconut water at the store, use almond milk, or just use regular water.
